Friday Art: Prada Transformer

Friday Art".

Първата модна изложба, състояла се през април 2009, носи името "Waist Down - Skirts by Miuccia Prada".

Hey, guys!

It's Friday which means it's  "Friday Art" time.
I'm curious to know which is your first association with the word "fashion"? I'm sure many of you would think of fashion stores or fashion boutiques - the most usual places for spreading fashion (besides the new medias of course).
Maybe you don't suspect, but there are many new places within the fashion industry nowadays.
As you will see in the upcoming posts, there is a strong bond between fashion and the most common art place - the museum.

I don't know if you've heard of Prada Transformer. This is a temporary multifunctional pavilion situated in South Korea. The building has roughly a tetrahedral structure, but it can also take different forms depending on the function for which the building is needed at the moment- it can host a fashion exhibition, cinema, art exhibition or special event. The innovative structure allows the walls of the building to become floors and floors to become walls. The museum has started as a host of the fashion exhibition "Waist Down - Skirts by Miuccia Prada" in April 2009.
Rem Koolhaas explains the idea behind the Prada Transformer: “Rather than having one average condition, we conceived a pavilion that, by simply rotating it, acquires a different character and accommodates different needs.”

What do you think about the innovative concept of this museum? Do you think it's good?
